What Does "One Flesh" in Marriage Mean?

My wife Chelsea joins me to continue our series talking about marriage.

Genesis 2:24 says God's design for marriage is that the husband and wife become "one flesh."

We discuss three areas in which husband and wife should be "one flesh":

  1. "One flesh" in intimacy--no cheating (Mat 5:28; Pro 5:15-18; 31:11; Phi 4:8)
  2. "One flesh" in goals--no competition (Act 18:26; Eph 5:33; Phi 2:3)
  3. "One flesh" in struggles--no cowardice (Jas 1:19; 1Pe 3:7)
